Windo Poster Displays - Slip Test

Safety comes first remains our device. For this reason the FloorWindo® poster display was tested in the USA according to the ASTM and ANSI rules. Though we advise not to use FloorWindo® in wet conditions, situations will occur when the surface becomes wet anyway. Therefore, the Cleargrip™ surface was tested in both dry and wet conditions.

Test

Values for slip resistance are represented on a scale between zero and one. According to ASTM, any value higher than 0,5 is sufficient for a safe walking surface. The test was carried out using an “English XL” slip resistance tester (www.englishxl.com), comparing CleargriP™ with other materials, some of them applied in floor stickers. The results of the test are represented in the diagram.

Test Results

  1. poly carbonate 2.0 mm - no texture “glossy”
  2. poly carbonate 2.0 mm - no texture “mat”
  3. poly carbonate 2.0 mm - texture 35“CleargriP™”
  4. poly carbonate 2.0 mm - texture 40
  5. pvc 0,20 mm - textured “Scotchcal”
  6. poly carbonate 0.13 mm - textured “Permaflex”
  7. pvc 0.13 mm - textured “Sandtex”
  8. poly carbonate 0.15 mm - texture 40 “Filmolux 4133”

Conclusion

In dry situations, all materials score well above 0,5 and are safe to walk on. When tested wet, some materials are definitely not safe. The best scoring surfaces are (very) rough. Some of these materials (such as texture 40) don’t offer enough transparancy. An optimum between slipresistance and transparancy is combined in FloorWindo® CleargriP™.
